It’s really interesting that the Cheetah is so assertive with the Cougar. Messi is small for a cougar, but they are still ver6 powerful cats! I’m sure tables would be turned if Messi was a more typically sized cougar. Especially the male cougars! I’m most experienced with the cougars as I live in Alberta, Canada and have spent a huge amount of time in cougar country. I actually have yet to see one in the wild!! I have seen lots of tracks and evidence they were on our ranch/farm, but they can be elusive! It was best to leave it that way, we have lots of trail cam pictures & videos. In the wild, if you are approached by a cougar, it’s very likely, if not guaranteed, it’s hunting you. You have to get out of that situation bar none! If it’s a bear,,, especially a Grizzly, it’s possible it will do you harm, but it’s NOT hunting you. Black bears are more predacious than the Grizzly when it comes to humans. There are definitely cases I’d grizzlies preying on humans as well, but it’s much more rare. Anyway,,, I think if that living arrangement involved a typical sized cougar, it may be chasing the cheetah, or,,,,. It’s good they don’t let the cats get together for a brawl as both are capable of inflicting serious damage to each other and once injured at the level they can get to, there is no winner, so to speak. I love watching the videos and especially when both cats are out, but it’s good they supervise these visits. These two “parents” are such excellent handlers, hosts for these cats!! The cats are captive, yes, (there was essentially no choice) 😊😊but they also have it great!!

I enjoy the dynamics between the two. Messi in his heart knows that Gerda is powerful and strong, hence he constantly puts up a brave front, which comes out as him looking bullish. Think if he didn’t do that Gerda would have the upper hand. Gerda is a gentle playful soul seeking friendship with this naughty puma, but doesn’t know how to without scaring the puma. 😅😂

A "territorial" animal attacks, and Messi runs away. Gerda - I like her but not around Messi - just pretends to want to play. She is an instinctive animal, Messi is much more human oriented. If Messi got into this 'game' it would easily go wild and not end well.

Gerda will defend herself when Messi makes it necessary, but other than that, the only stimuli to which she usually has any noteworthy response are Sasha and Masha. She purrs constantly when they're spending time with her. There have been countless instances where Gerda sincerely attempted to befriend Messi, but he always spoils it with some hostile behavior. He's exceedingly jealous and fearful, and she's been nothing but patient. Messi is lucky that Gerda is virtually unflappable.

@@WaitingtoHit I've seen all the videos. And it seems to me that Messi defend himself when Gerda makes it necessary. Are you saying that Gerda was sincerely trying to befriend Messi? Then you must have forgotten when she hit him from behind early in their acquaintance and tried to chase him down. Or when Messi got into the game and ended up getting scratched by Gerda. Yes, Messi got lucky, but only because Sasa and Masa held Gerda back. So for me it's more about Gerda being jealous of Messi and sneakily trying to intimidate him. As for the purring, Gerda purrs at everyone and that is not honest behaviour either. That said, I can see that Gerda is alone a lot and I understand her behaviour, but it is not Messi's fault that Gerda is here.

The other dream is not possible - to spend a day with the two most beautiful cats in all of Russia (very unlikely as cats can't relax with strangers, especially if the strangers don't speak Russian, and I wouldn't want to upset two such beloved souls as Messi and Gerda!). What fortunate people we are nowadays, to be able to enjoy the most beautiful ballet in the world, and to watch the antics of these two extremely precious and universally adored little cats!
