Had he resisted, papa would've pulled even harder on the leash - and had he shown aggression, papa would have to raise his voice, and whatnot else - essentially use aggression too. This might work in Messi's case, because of his smaller size. But had he been a bigger cat, it would become dangerous very quickly. My point being, Messi is a puma. That means hundreds of thousands years of genetic specialization at being _lone hunters, living mostly in solitude_ You can see a hundred thoughts racing through his head constantly, mostly assessing his safety (per reflex), while he sits in that crowd of yelling ppl. Yes he behaves - he's not big like a tiger. But he's uncomfortable - on the edge. That's not the case for the dogs - they're used to this, also genetically. It's stressful for a cat (puma) to be in that situation. So why make him... Yes, he trusts papa completely - and that is beautiful and it truly is remarkable. But motivation-wise, it's around 10% Messi and 90% papa who wants to be at that crowded noisy location. And in my opinion, that's not cool.

Yeah, he is very loving to Messi, you have to be firm, but loving and you can get your dog or big cat I’m impressed with the training with Messi. Why do the German Shepherd’s get muzzled and hit with leash, the guy next to Messi I wanted to come through the internet and slap him. I grew up with big dogs and being from Texas guns, you treated both with respect and like they are loaded. One of our Shepherds was trained to attack on command, my Daddy learned from that so he trained the other shepherds and our Doberman (my Buddy). We all trained with the dogs and each of us feed them so they would not favor one person over another, but they all knew that Daddy was the Alfalfa Dog. With my Doberman (125 all muscle, I prayed he’d be big) I won 2nd place in a dog show it was a community thing he should have won, I walked him without a leash and he did everything right, some little ugly dog won. I know now that people would have complained if he won, they think Doberman’s and German Shepherd’s are bad dogs, you have to train them to be bad. I was 7or 8 when we got the Doberman, and already had the trained shepherd. I still miss them.

bluedollars he is not fully compliant. As a pet and being young,no biggie, but he needs a muzzle(?) so to be truly obedient w commands the owner is made to correct the dog. My young lab,was always talking in class and got in trouble. We went to a more fun class

They all are a great picture! Messy doesn’t understand what on earth and why he is doing there. Both German shepherds are ready to be trained but the right one is distracted by the puma so it doesn’t do a half of commands. The grey dog doesn’t give a thing about all training, it is just happy being in this world:)))

I was thinking the same thing! He loses his patience to easily, the best way to train a dog is using a rewards based training system and I don’t think him hitting the dog is helping at all. If anything, it’s teaching the dog to have a negative association with commands. :(

Maybe the instructor should train the trainer how to not to use hitting or abuse to train dogs from the beginning. Not a good example to show how to treat an animal in front of the kids or adults for that matter.

The guy I heard work as a wild animal handler or some sort, he seeing Messi was sick (the weight of Messi is 30% smaller compare to normal cougar growth) and decided to take care of Messi with his girlfriend , even the couple that adopted Messi say don't take cougar as pet

I admire them for all they do; they give him the best opportunity for a great life and there is no denying the love. Messi is protective of them as well. There is one video where they do a test to show that, with a man being aggressive towards "dad", and Messi hisses a few times, and then lays across his dad to block the stranger from him. It will be marvelous when their house is completed and they can move in; so much more room for Messi

@@DG-ge2bo i don't think it is possible for this puma to eat his owner, he have absolutely zero hunting skill, there is a proof of it. the owner try to feed him with a living fish but this puma don't even know what to do to his food when it is living and got scare. he also allow his owner to trim his claws, bath and inject medicine for him and his health is very bad. so i doubt this puma will ever hurt anyone in his life. 100% tamed

Thank you for saving Messi from the petting zoo. He has the best life now!

His ears are also flattened - that's a kitty cat warning sign. They unflattened a bit whenever his person was standing near him, though. Didn't look like the dogs were freaking him out, either - he was barely paying attention to them. I think it was the noise and strange people. He calmed down during the fun between the legs bit. That cat is still really well socialized for a wild animal. Shepherd next to Messi isn't able to bite. And animal fights aren't usually death duels, anyway. At worst, Messi takes offense to a dog sniff and responds with a snarl + paw whack, as pissed off cats do. His claws are trimmed, and large enough that the shepherd might be able to skip the stitches and just get knocked on his ass.

Dogs are social animal whereas cats are not meant to be social. Training dogs is way more easier than training cats.

Ему надо двигаться и мозг развиваться. Такие тренировки поддерживают кота в форме. У меня есть знакомый, он как раз котов и тренировал.
